ISN'T IT

At first glance, ISN'T IT appears to be a loose collection of sculptures that brings modest materials to life. But the exhibition rewards close viewing, as it actually showcases clever constructions that aren't quite what they seem. Ivin Ballen's cardboard boxes held together with duct tape look like the real thing, but are actually fiberglass or resin casts of his original assemblages, painted in a trompe l'oeil style. The show also features work by Pello Irazu, Richard Rezac, and Tamara Zahaykevich, all of whom invite misperception by obliging viewers to address discrepancies between form and content.
