On the strength of MIA's Kala and Santogold's "Creator," British DJ/producer/label honcho Switch went from underground beatsmith to XLR8R Artist of the Year faster than critics could say "Mathangi 'Maya' Arulpragasam." Switch started the Dubsided label, collaborated with Diplo, and has remixed Basement Jaxx and Simian Mobile Disco. Tonight, the man with the Midas MIDI stops by the Smart Bar to serve up his trademark hooks, house grooves, and electro-boogaloo. Opener Bald Eagle is half of the duo behind the Life During Wartime parties; now he's slotted for Lollapalooza and is quickly becoming one of Chicago's premier deck-masters.
