Monday June 16 (9pm)
Tonight's DIY program opens with a screening of Tampico, an affecting short film by award-winning local documentarian Suree Towfighnia (whose feature-length doc Standing Silent Nation has aired on PBS). Tampico follows the day-to-day struggles of the film's titular musician, a subway performer working to support herself and her mentally challenged brother. Live music by Tampico and a conversation between Towfighnia and her subject follows, as well as a set of locally produced field recordings by Joshua Manchester, Robert Pleshar, Michael Hartman, Eric Leonardson, and Chad Clark.
