Performing Arts: Theatre Superior Donuts

Chicago theatergoers might know better, but for a long time, most people only recognized Tracy Letts as "that guy from the Festivus episode of Seinfeld." A Pulitzer prize and a Tony later, Letts' August: Osage County thrust him to the forefront of American playwriting. His new Superior Donuts runs on a much smaller scale than August's Tennessee Williams-style opus: as sales dwindle at an Uptown donut shop (damn you, Atkins!), the owner and his sole employee lock horns over how to manage the business. With undertones of racial and generational strife, it's a comedy that retains plenty of sting.
