- Glass: A Portrait of Philip in 12 Parts
Scott Hicks' documentary on the legendary composer Philip Glass is an admiring portrait, not a warts-and-all exposé. Hicks, the director of the musical biopic Shine, is mostly content to bask in the famously private composer's daily spiritual exercises and composing routines. But while the film skimps on biography, it does use interviews with significant collaborators like Errol Morris, Woody Allen, and Chuck Close to explore Glass' working style. The composer's fourth wife, Holly, gets her piece in, as well — though Hicks' patient camera remains on the lookout for Glass' invisible muse.
