Although Improv Match Game panelists concoct impromptu answers to broad questions, it's less an exercise in traditional improv comedy than a faithful revival of the long-running television game show. Sticking closely to the original format, the stage version features prizes for the contestants, cheesy theme music, and a freewheeling vibe courtesy of its rotating panel of top local improvisers. Ringmaster Rich Prouty keeps things moving along while channeling genial TV host Gene Rayburn; as in the original, the actual competition comes second — the game is primarily a vehicle for wisecracks and witty banter.
