Performing Arts Nicole Garneau: UPRISING #6

In 2005, activist and performer Nicole Garneau marked the tenth anniversary of Chicago's deadly heat wave with a run of 365 daily performances. Her latest project, UPRISING, is another socially conscious birthday present, a monthly event in honor of 1968, a year of progress through revolution. Garneau stages her work in public, free of exposition, confronting passersby with mysterious, unsettling images — frank confessions and beet juice are two of her common raw materials. June's installment lets you join her for a three-day weekend during which she will create, present, and document No. 6. No experience is necessary — the sole requirement is that you wear your heart (and brain) on your sleeve.
