Art Michael Jones McKean: brown gold braid and field and plant life

Michael Jones McKean's ramshackle constructions combine disparate found objects with wood, clay, and papier-mâché. His work has a strong physical presence, and the unusual artifacts held within are keys to understanding the submerged narrative currents. Within the assemblages at Three Walls, you can find a golden throne, a clay-wrapped tree branch, a chainsaw, and a 500-year-old South American meteorite, among other items. A tenuous network of associations unfolds gradually across three adjoining rooms — the installation's different elements call out to each other and it's up to you to decode the replies.
