Art Works in Progress feat. Amy Mayfield

Viewing art typically involves finished pieces, but the MCA's Works in Progress series gives you the chance to watch work being created. Tonight's guest is Amy Mayfield, known for her lushly painted, surreal tableaux. She layers colors on glass to create three-dimensional forms. Her "subliminal landscapes," as she calls them, are populated with whimsical recurring characters taken from her childhood diaries. Come with questions when you visit the show — Mayfield is available to discuss her process, the local art scene, or whatever else is on your mind.
