Museum of Contemporary Art says…

Lookingglass Theatre Company has chosen to revive the 2000 hit For Keeps and a Single Day for its 20th season. Thomas J. Cox won raves for his portrayal of populist hero Nelson Algren, whose writings have become so integral to Chicago's identity that they define as much as describe it. Director John Musial coordinates a multi-sensory theatre experience that draws viewers into Algren's passionate, sometimes torturous love affair with his "broken-nosed" hometown. Kevin O'Donnell and Bob Lovecchio perform composer Dave Pavkovic's original, wall-to-wall jazz score with typical panache, and Musial's video backdrop is as gritty, shifty, and beautiful as the city itself.
