With folksy, stripped-down arrangements of accordion, banjo, strings, and vocals, Minneapolis' Dark Dark Dark bring to mind Beirut, a Hawk & a Hacksaw, or DeVotchKa, but with a sound that's all their own. Their songs fit the moniker, evoking the northern winters of their origins with a sweetly melodic core. And should things get too dour, songs like "Trouble No More" reassure audiences that DDD are ready to stomp around a little. Hometown experimentalists Pillars & Tongues open.
