Performing Arts: Dance Same Planet Different World: Vintage Modern

Since 1997, Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre has earned a reputation for producing innovative, surprising, whip-smart works in styles ranging from classical, jazz, and modern to avant-garde improvisations that require audience participation. Highlights of tonight's program include the Chicago premiere of acclaimed choreographer Shirley Mordine's  duet Thin Ice; Ashleigh Leite's The Drift League, which restricts dancers' arms with special costumes, forcing them to use other modes of expression; and the title piece, Vintage Modern, a quirky classical-meets-modern mashup set to the music of Autechre and choreographed by Flavorpill's own dance contributor Zachary Whittenburg.
