Back in April, one of the already quiet nights for Chicago dance became a little quieter when Sunday night's Smartbar residency the END went and took its name a little too literally. Thankfully for those of us who have a hard time calling it a weekend, founder/DJ James Lauer returns tonight, now at Rednofive. Besides being an expert beat-matcher, Lauer is one of the city's most tireless dance-music promoters; he's presented electronic royalty like LCD Soundsystem, the Field, Richie Hawtin, and a slew of others. His own sets are nearly as varied, though a love of minimal and classic house always shines through. Tonight's marquee includes longtime local raver Angel Alanis, so expect Lauer and crew to be in top form for this much-anticipated welcome back.
