Museum of Contemporary Art says…

There's a new way to show your commitment to peace — all you have to do is lose those locks. Interdisciplinary artist Genevieve Erin O'Brien offers free buzz cuts at her outdoor Peace Salon, a performance that began on July 4 with O'Brien shaving her head as a response to the war in Iraq. O'Brien asks potential participants to consider making a small sacrifice, a "release from attachment," in order to show dedication to acceptance and nonviolence. The terms of involvement are open, however, and discussion is encouraged; the salon focuses on the broad notion of peace, not just the United States' foreign policy.
