In the mainstream crossover sweepstakes, noise act Hair Police are unlikely to hit the jackpot. They're more jarring and droning than bands like Black Dice, Excepter, and any number of screechers that bow before Bananafish. Their records are top-notch — a new one is slated for this year on No Fun — but all that gizmo grinding and mondo-processed guitar cuts a lot deeper live, whether you're a true believer or just dabbling. Speaking of true believers, tonight's meeting of noisy minds includes several of Chicago's finest, running the noise gamut from ambient to power electronics.
