Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell star as Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw, two lounge singers and best friends who travel to Paris on the dime of Lorelei's fiance, Gus Esmond. En route, Lorelei meets Sir Francis Beekman, who owns a diamond mine, and uses her charm and beauty to convince him to give her his wife's diamond tiara. Meanwhile, the more down-to-earth, sharp-witted Dorothy falls in love with the private detective that Gus has hired to watch Lorelei. Upon arriving in Paris, Gus learns of his betrothed's indiscretions and calls off the wedding and the ladies' line of credit. This iconic film features "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," sung, of course, by Monroe.
