Reading William McKeen: Outlaw Journalist: The Life & Times of Hunter S. Thompson

Since his 2005 suicide (and dramatic funeral), the ghost of Hunter S. Thompson has lingered over the cultural zeitgeist. The subject of countless new biographies, books, and films (including the recent documentary Gonzo), the cult writer has never seemed more relevant. Another in the ever-burgeoning body of literature surrounding him is William McKeen's Outlaw Journalist: The Life & Times of Hunter S. Thompson, which focuses "more attention on the art [and] less attention on the antics" of the father of Gonzo journalism. Tonight, McKeen discusses his book and dissects Thompson's legacy and mythology.
