Music: Rock/Pop Le Loup

With wolf-like guile and at least a few bachelor's degrees among them, Le Loup play sharp, circuitous pop that makes good on electro-folk's oft-unsubstantiated claims to genrehood. Mostly the studio project of multi-instrumentalist Sam Simkoff, last year's lumpily titled The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations Millennium General Assembly melds intimate porch tones and cold soft-synth bleeps, recasting indie-rock melodrama in a gridded, digital light. This afternoon, the full ensemble peels away the gloss from their pixilated sound for the Pritzker Pavilion's excellent Audible Architecture series.
