Music: Jazz/Blues Tuesdays on the Terrace feat. Jimmy Ellis

This week, the MCA's Tuesdays on the Terrace series spotlights South Side jazz great Jimmy Ellis. Ellis studied under the legendary Captain Walter Dyett — the man who mentored '50s notables Dinah Washington and Gene Ammons, before playing alongside some of the jazz and pop titans of his day. Ellis' range is exhaustive; how else to describe a man who has supported the suave crooning of Nat King Cole and the intergalactic free-jazz madness of Sun Ra? Reservations are a good idea if you want to hit Puck's café. Otherwise you can just chill on the sculpture lawn while the old pro serenades.
