Music: DJ DJ Distance w/ DJ Shiva, Karl Meier, and Quadratic

Distance's album for the stalwart label Planet Mu is steeped in the zeitgeist of the UK dubstep movement, and consists of a snarling mass of shredded bass, saw-wave vocoders, and chunky beats. With productions involving Skream, Cyrus, Pinch, and Benga, Distance has also put out consistent releases on key labels like Hotflush and his own Chestplate imprint. In this Chicago debut, Distance's heavy set is bookended by artists who combine dubstep with techno influences — Indiana's DJ Shiva and Quadratic, who bring their live show to Smartbar for the first time. Rounding out the night are beat jockey Karl Meier and Phaded from Dubstep.fm.
