Music: Folk/Country Jana Hunter

Jana Hunter has been a mainstay in neo-folk circles since the genre (however gleefully un-unified it may be) picked up critical steam almost five years ago. Even with hands in projects by every luminary from Devendra Banhart to Deer Tick, Hunter has remained unapologetically underground. Her work ranges from the gorgeously noisy cassette releases on Fuck It Tapes to last year's lovely take on folk tropes, There's No Home. With a voice that can touch on scathing and placid in a single breath, Jana Hunter is one of the true originals in a crowded scene.
