As the Renegade Craft Fair boasts on its handmade-feeling website, it's one of the biggest and best-known craft events out there. (Born in Chicago, it led to spin-offs in Brooklyn and San Francisco.) Most of the 200-plus vendors are savvy, independent designers with their own companies — rather than homespun iconoclasts — so the fair is "renegade" in name only; but that's why it's a reliable destination for distinctive goods every fall. Here's your chance to swim in a sea of hand-printed cards, silk-screened posters, t-shirts, jewelry, and inspired odds and ends. This year, the fair adds live music performances by Califone and Northern State.
