There is an opening reception for this show on Thur, Sep 4 (6-8pm).
Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans turned mass-produced objects into meaningful art. With this transmutability in mind, Scavenger Constructs features five artists who give new meaning to some of the mundane objects that surround us. These artists are scavengers who find artistic merit in disposable items destined for the trash — everyday objects like wire, pipe cleaners, lightbulbs, and string are rendered unrecognizable in their new arrangements. The exhibition is part of Columbia College Chicago's annual Critical Encounters series, which currently focuses on how humans interact with nature.
