Ten years in, Luna Negra's dancers are what you might expect from Chicago's premier platform for Latino choreographers: versatile, sexy movers in the vein of Hubbard Street's company, but minus the cool detachment. There is a Time, a 1956 work by Mexican choreographer José Limón and scored by Norman Dello Joio, is anniversary-appropriate in its reflections on the cycle of life. In Eduardo Vilaro's Deshár Alhát (Leave Sunday), the vocals of Stefani Valadez (who sings live during performances) set the stage for a look at Sephardic Jews in turn-of-the-century Latin America. Meanwhile, Francisco Aviña and Stephanie Martinez debut their first collaboration, AviMar.
