However you want to describe them — stately busts for a post-marble age; eerie Frankenstein constructions; a poacher's trophies from the jungle of American myth — the pieces in Scott Fife's Heads show will probably stop you in your tracks. With little more than gray corrugated cardboard, a knife, and a screw gun, the Seattle-based artist builds large, exacting sculptural portraits that are surprisingly refined, invitingly tactile, and a little unsettling. In Tony Wight's intimate back gallery, Muhammad Ali, two versions of Ed Kienholz (Fife's former mentor), and a young Abe Lincoln stare you down from their posts on the wall. The next presidential portrait may have been unveiled in Washington already, but we'd still like to see Fife's take on our nation's newest living legend.
