Monty Python's Spamalot

After Monty Python's Flying Circus redefined television sketch comedy, the troupe turned its attention to feature films. With financing help from Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, and Led Zeppelin, the Pythons offered an appropriately raucous take on Arthurian legend via Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975). Adapted for the stage as Spamalot by founding member Eric Idle, the new version of the tale previewed in Chicago before winning the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical. Having just wrapped up its successful Broadway run, the show returns to the Windy City to kick off a North American tour; although Hank Azaria, Tim Curry, and David Hyde Pierce have long since left the cast, we'll still get all the spirited silliness — plus Richard Chamberlain as King Arthur.
