Armed with a guitar and a drum set, and fueled by leftover teenage angst and rave reviews, Vancouver's Japandroids are spending much of the year on a massive trek across North America. Tonight, Schubas plays host to their outsider-anthem garage rock. Finding three to be a crowd, Brian King and David Prowse forewent a lead singer in favor of sharing the job. Experience considered ("We were really good at rocking out, but that was about it," King's said), this could have been a bold move. But it hasn't proved a problem; and rather, it seems to be where their charm is. The two sound like five, and really, things don't need to be complicated — sometimes rocking out is more fun.
