What do you get when you mix a schlock-horror cinema classic with a couple of cheesy, soft-rock icons? You get Carpenters Halloween, a stage performance of John Carpenter's Halloween set to the music of Karen and Richard Carpenter that returns for its third year in Chicago. Two years ago, this largely unheard-of event came out of left field and was rewarded with sold-out houses and rave critical reviews for its playful skewering of slasher-film clichés through the use of puppets, gratuitous gore, and fake boobs.
