Tonight's lit fest, presented by Chicago Public Radio and Stop Smiling, takes its name from Nelson Algren's eminently quotable description of Chicago: "an October sort of city, even in spring." This four-author salute to Chicago's rich literary history weaves the individual narratives of fiction writers Joe Meno and Cristina Henríquez, nonfiction author Eula Biss, and short-story writer Deb Olin Unferth into one intertwined reading. Plenty of Goose Island brews flow along with the authors' eloquent accounts of their home city, followed by a discussion about what it means to be a Chicago author.
