Lucky Plush Productions: Punk Yankees

Encyclopedic knowledge of any subject being just a click away shows up in almost all art these days, whether implicitly or overtly. Julia Rhoads isn't trying to hide anything with her company's new work, Punk Yankees: a mashed-up score by Stefen Robinson of Yea Big + Kid Static throws references out by the handful, as does choreography sampling everything from "Single Ladies" to Swan Lake. Lucky Plush's pop-culture-savvy chameleons handily create a good time, but it's the introspective dig running parallel to their mining operation that gives Punk Yankees its heft.

Note:

Oct. 24's early show is followed by a 10th anniversary gala, Get Lucky. $75 tickets include admission to the concert. Details are available here.

They're serving Plucky Lushes at the benefit made with Stoli Vanil, pineapple juice, Stoli Ohranj, 7-Up & a Rock candy swizzle stick, in a highball glass. Katie Leander, LPP Man. Dir. says the drink is "really fun, not only because it tastes good & has a rock candy swizzle stick, but because the drink turns whatever color your rock candy is!"
