Hedwig Dances

The Chicago Cultural Center's resident dance company, named for its founder's grandmother, is a tireless purveyor of contemporary dance theatre created in-house, and a commissioner of rising stars and critical darlings. Bill Young and Colleen Thomas, co-directors of a kindred New York group, created "Rein, Bellow" in 2003 — Hedwig's passionate dancers give its Matryoshka-doll composition a pitch-perfect reading. The Chicago premiere of Marianela Boan's symbolic, athletic construction site "Stampede" joins the performance, along with "Moi, Aussi," company member Michel Rodriguez's new work.
