With only three singles to his name, DJ/producer Sh*t Robot (née Marcus Lambkin) is one of the lesser-known beatmeisters in the DFA crate. That's changing fast, and one spin of his latest, "Simple Things," makes it clear why. Ian Svenonious (Nation of Ulysses) plays meta-diva over a base of Chicago-house piano and Belleville Three electro, adding up to one of '09's most thrilling mutant-disco tracks. Past and present collide in his years-honed DJ sets, too. Check out his Simply Sh*t Mix for XLR8R, where like-minded retro-futurists flow effortlessly through the "Simple Things" bookends.
