In conjunction with the Library of Congress’ Lincoln bicentennial exhibition, With Malice Toward None, at the Newberry Library, the Consort will present rarely-heard music from 1860s America such as popular songs, minstrel music, and country music. In addition the program will include the art music of America's first bona fide virtuosos, Louis Gottschalk and William Morris. The program of stories, songs, and minstrel comic acts will bring Lincoln's America to life.
These concerts will be performed at various locations throughtout the city: the 30th at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago; the 31st in Hyde Park; and November 1st in Lutkin Hall.
