With new-wave Canucks Dragonette headlining, it follows that Lycra is the fabric du jour at tonight's Halloween dance party — as the title suggests, it's free entry for anyone sporting over 70% spandex. While the sight of a dance floor covered in material every bit as synthetic as Dragonette's disco-glam certainly appeals, we're most excited about Chicago DJ crew Moneypenny (fka Rocktapussy). Over the last year, DJ Mother Hubbard (already much loved from Life During Wartime) and DJ A-Cup (ex-Office) have poised themselves as the heirs to Flosstradamus' local indie-dance throne. Their faves-and-sleepers mash up of rock, pop, and dance is so precise, you won't even care how wrong all that spandex feels.
