Note:
Cocktail and painting party is Oct 9 only.
Guatemalan expat Alfred Jensen, writer-turned-artist Charmion von Wiegand, and quizzical patternist Simon Gouverneur are the subject of Back to the Future, LUMA's triple bill of mid-century abstractionists occupied with spiritual themes. Paige Cunningham, Philip Elson, and Amanda McAlister are members of The Seldoms invited to make dances in response to their paintings. Friday's opening has your senses blanketed: hors d'ouevres and specialty cocktails complement the audio-visual stimuli while your tactile curiosity runs wild with blank sheets and art-making supplies. Illinois State Museum curator Doug Stapleton and Seldoms collaborator Fraser Taylor will be on hand to supply Gunn-style mentorship upon request.
