Like Mitch Hedberg before him, Canadian comic Glenn Wool disarms you with his Spicoli-esque, easygoing vibes — which makes his pitch-perfect turns-of-phrase and linguistic command that much more unexpected. Wool works with the usual raw materials ("Richard jokes," politics, terrorism), but always with a fresh twist. In signature bits, he imagines having his mystery "d*ck fungus" diagnosed as the "Glenn Wool," and issues a hilarious warning to self-loathing Al Qaedas primed for suicide-bomber detail ("All I wanna do is listen to the Smiths and read my poetry." "Feelin' a little down, Ahmed? What size jacket do you wear?"). In the past, Wool has opened for alt-comic faves Hannibal Buress and Kumail Nanjiani; tonight's solo gig offers the extended time he deserves.
