Whether you're a tried-and-true Wes Anderson fan or part of the camp that feels the director lost his way in a precious world of his own design, Fantastic Mr. Fox is a remarkable, clever creation and potentially his most fulfilling movie yet. In adapting Roald Dahl's wry children's novel, in which a roguish fox takes on three nasty farmers while trying to provide for his family, Anderson turned to the painstaking, tactile method of stop-motion animation. While that means a whole new approach for the filmmaker, the shift to animation plays cannily to his strengths, letting Anderson shape his environment and characters down to the smallest magical details.
