You could be forgiven for wondering whether Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol specifically for the Goodman Theatre stage: their annual December production of the heartwarming chestnut is a holiday tradition as familiar as green and red trim on the Hancock Building and a Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving. The Goodman isn't reinventing any wheels for this year's model, delivering a straight-up retelling of the supernatural redemption of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge. Veteran actor Larry Yando, who starred in the national tour of Disney's The Lion King and recently appeared in Steppenwolf's Fake, handles the "Humbug!"s.
