After three bona fide masterpieces, a near-perfect singles comp, and a mountain of accolades, Basement Jaxx still keep making records like hungry upstarts rather than the elder statesmen they are. Those kinds of superlatives are usually a sign of careless boosterism, but in the case of Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, they're entirely earned. Tonight, the duo brings back its instantly recognizable brand of kitchen-sink house-pop to the States for the first time in three years. The DJ gig will likely lean heavily on the new Scars, which slightly dials down the hyperactive hooks. Still, tracks like "Raindrops" and Yoko Ono's self-interpolating guest spot, "Day of the Sunflowers," match the poppy dance-floor thunder of Jaxx classics like "Red Alert" and "Romeo."
