One of the more mischievous filmmakers to emerge from the late-'60s/early-'70s avant-garde, Owen Land (originally known as George Landow) pointed the way toward the "content follows form" ethos of structural film, while simultaneously deflating the regrettable theoretical overload lurking around the corner. What's Wrong With This Picture? presents ten films from Land's fruitful early days, including the two absurdist milestones Wide Angle Saxon and On the Marriage Broker Joke. The latter features Land's infamous "puppet pandas talking film" sequence, perhaps the most representative example of his singular egghead slapstick.
