New York-based artist Anne Chu's drawings, prints, and sculptures conjure mythology reminiscent of Kiki Smith. Bear Head (all works 2008), cast from nickel bronze, perches atop a crisp white pedestal, its eyes slightly off-center, appearing worn through the ages. Raven shows the bird's profile against a richly textured man-made background, suggesting little separation between the material and natural worlds. The number of the beast surfaces in Goat 666, a painting in which strokes of deep red twist inward toward a yellow goat enveloped in a panoply of rabid colors.
