Gil Mantera and the Ultimate Donny have been retroactively rocking the ironic '80s before it was even cool. The two brothers from Youngstown, Ohio are split between a vocoder-obsessed "quiet one" and a brash bearded motormouth channeling Mary J. Blige. While parading through synth-pop power ballads, they adopt several wardrobe changes — well, more like striptease — that meld gaudy spandex, thrift store novelty, and homoerotic camp. While GMPD's shows have been getting tamer with age (it's been years since they've employed trampolines or set fire to their pubes), they still do this schtick better than the rest of the poseurs. All City Affairs and Hemale open.
