Artist Paul Chan may well be one of the wittiest and most astute political commentators of our time. The Renaissance Society presents drawings and video by Chan, the centerpiece of which is a series of large, text-filled drawings that explore the language of the Marquis de Sade. Here, a computer keyboard is reimagined, with each key producing a cluster of incoherent pornographic expletives. Meanwhile, nine subtle portraits of the Supreme Court justices gaze down smugly from high on a gallery wall.
