Buckminster Fuller was a man of vision and contradiction. The twentieth-century architect and inventor was well ahead of his time, yet his pragmatic geodesic domes and efficient Dymaxion houses were passionately Utopian. The timing for a major Fuller retrospective couldn't be more appropriate: if Fuller were alive today, he would undoubtedly be chewing ears off about environmentally-conscious design and how to do "more with less" in an economic crisis. Hosted by the MCA Chicago and originating from the Whitney Museum and Stanford University Libraries, this comprehensive exhibition attests to Fuller's (still) influential ambitions for a sustainable total-design practice.
