True to its title, Dub Echoes explores how far the reverb-heavy sounds of Jamaica have carried into modern music. Directed by Brazilian documentarian/scribe Bruno Natal, the film features commentary from forward-thinking hip-hop and electronic acts (Roots Manuva, Thievery Corporation, Switch) detailing the everlasting effect this sonic revolution had on their work. But Natal doesn't neglect dub's own roots, with genre pioneers like Lee "Scratch" Perry seen in-studio, breaking down the science behind the bass lines and sound effects that continue to resonate in sound systems worldwide.
