On April Fool's Day, an LTH Forum reader pranked the online foodie community with news on a Hot Doug's Celebrity Sausage called the "John Cage," offering an empty plate for $4.33. The white canvas has certainly become fodder for contemporary art punchlines, but an exploration of blankness could offer some interesting interpretations. The exhibition, Several Silences, features visual explorations of an anechoic chamber by Lewis Baltz and an interpretation of Cage's aforementioned 4'33" by Manon de Boer, as well as works by Gran Fury, Harold Mendez, and Harry Shearer, among others. But the joke's on us if the entire show simply presents a silent and empty room.
