The Our Literal Speed conference is accompanied by an exhibition at UIC's Gallery 400 of the same name.
This is not your average academic conference. Our Literal Speed's organizers describe it as a veritable "media pop opera" for the spheres of art and history, to produce the tangible from the intangible, to manifest theoretical conversations through events and actions. With appearances by David Joselit, WJT Mitchell, Thomas Crow, Andrea Fraser, Walid Raad, Hal Foster, Art & Language, and the South Shore Drill Team, among others, topics include self-referentiality, the pace of change, and hybrid practices.
