Anyone compiling the canon of 20th-century American film comedy would do well to start with the collected works of Harold Ramis, who has co-written, directed, or acted in Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Stripes, Analyze This, and National Lampoon's Animal House. More recently, the Second City alumnus and erstwhile Ghostbuster has been working with two leading comedy factories, the Judd Apatow repertory company (he appears in Knocked Up) and The Office (he's directed several episodes). Tonight, Ramis receives a lifetime achievement award and presents a preview screening of his upcoming prehistoric comedy, Year One, as part of the Just For Laughs Chicago festival.
