The former frontman for Alabama grunge-rockers Verbena, Mr. Bondy seems to have left his grit in the South for serenity in a Catskills barn. Dipping into his Dylan and Waits collection — and perhaps his Bible — Bondy blends conflicting moods of doom and hope into an inspiring collection of folky Americana. Bearing only his guitar, harmonica, and a lyrics sheet, Bondy sings with candor and beauty of the apocalypse, personal demons, and his fear of judgement day.
