Their home state may be drowning underneath budget fiascos, Prop 8, and an ineffectual Governator, but LA's Beat-punk greats X still believe in the democratic process. John, Exene, and co. kick off a three-night Chicago stand this evening, and all dates are you-pick-the-sets. Ballot options lean heavily on their classic early work ("Johnny Hit and Run Paulene," "Adult Books"); still, that's hardly disenfranchising — their first releases remain the best punk-rock one-two-three this side of '70s Wire.
